Care.
The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow
Psalm 146:9
At Story of Hope, we believe no widow should walk alone.
That’s why we’ve developed a Care Team Model—a personal, consistent support system designed to ensure every widow feels seen, known, and loved. Each member of our care team is paired with a small group of 8–10 widows.
She connects with each woman a couple of times a month to:
Pray for her.
Check in on her well-being.
Listen with compassion and care.
Identify practical needs.
This model allows us to build genuine relationships and offer practical support tailored to each woman’s unique journey. It’s one way we live out our mission to care for widows.
Care Package
We provide thoughtfully curated care packages for newly widowed women and those going through especially difficult seasons. Each package is filled with comforting items, encouraging notes, and practical gifts—designed to be a tangible reminder that she is not alone and that she is deeply cared for.
Care Team
True care doesn’t come from programs—it comes from people.
Our ministry is built on a care team model where each widow is intentionally connected to a dedicated care team member—a trusted woman who regularly checks in with her through phone calls, texts, and handwritten notes. These care team members build meaningful relationships, provide emotional and spiritual support, and keep a pulse on any practical needs or help navigating life’s transitions. It’s our way of making sure every widow is not just part of a program but part of a relational community.
Milestones & Ongoing Encouragement
We recognize that certain dates—like the anniversary of a spouse’s passing, and major holidays—can be incredibly tender and often stir deep grief. Our approach is to acknowledge, not avoid, these moments.
We send personalized notes on these significant days and include a message of comfort, remembrance, and hope in Christ. When appropriate, a care team member may follow up with a text, call or small touch of care.
Connecting Widows to Trusted Help
Grief can make even the smallest tasks feel overwhelming—especially when they involve things a spouse may have once handled. That’s why we come alongside widows as a trusted resource, helping them navigate practical needs by pointing them to reliable, compassionate professionals in our community.
Whether it’s finding someone for home repairs, basic car maintenance, lawn care, or legal and financial guidance, we help connect widows with people and services they can trust. We don’t provide these services directly, but we do make the process less daunting by offering referrals and walking with them as they take that next step.
It’s just one more way we lighten the load—through connection, community, and care.
